Hello golfers,

Its Ryder Cup week and I can't tell you how excited I am to start watching on Friday where hopefully Darren Clarke's European Team can create some magic like in 2010, 2012 and 2014. How does everyone think we will get on and what do you think of the team? I am so glad that Rory has found some form as I think he will be a big player for us this weekend. In 2014 I was lucky to have travelled to Gleneagles with Daniel, James Watts, Tommy Ullah and my wife Lizzie where we managed to get front row seats on the first tee for Sunday's singles matches. We got up at 5.30am and were in our seats at 6.30am ready for the first tee off which was at 11.30am. The atmosphere was incredible and unlike any I have experienced at any other golfing event. We watched all the matches tee off and then moved out onto the course to hopefully be there for when the winning putt was holed. Unfortunately, we were on the 16th green rather than the 15th. Nonetheless it was an amazing experience I will never forget and maybe in two years' time I will get to travel to Paris to do it all again.

Passing of a legend...

The golfing world has suffered a loss this week with the passing of one of the greatest players in golf, Arnold Palmer. One of the first golf books I ever read was Palmer's "Go for Broke" which my Grandad (Richard Fenn) had given me and which I still have on my bookshelf at home today. The book gave me a great insight into the life of one of the big three in golf and how he helped start up what we know as the USPGA Tour today. He was and always will be an icon in the sport and no doubt there will be some fitting tributes to him during the coverage of the Ryder Cup.

Willow Foundation Arsenal vs. Spurs Charity Classic

Last Friday we hosted the annual Willow Foundation Arsenal vs. Spurs Charity Golf Day where past legends join golfers for a day to raise money for the great things that the Willow do for young adults between 16 and 40. There were 11 teams per side and this year the Arsenal team manged to win the overall day. The winning four ball though was a Spurs team of legend Cliff Jones, Andy Mcfayden, Gavin Mcfayden and Jimmy Cunningham.

Here are a few words from Bob Wilson:

"Megs and all at Willow only hope that you can see how appreciative we are of all your hard work in organising our Spurs vs. Arsenal Golf Day. The difficulties this year especially involving the Spurs boys put extra pressure on you, but no one would have known that there were issues. Always a smile, nothing too much trouble, you were you. Thank you. Would you also pass on thanks to all at East Herts for their continuing interest, support and generosity. Ultimately it is our special day people and their loved ones who benefit and that is a priceless gift."
