Dream Team Strike again at Essendon
Congratulations to our Head Professional Daniel Field and EHGC Member Steve Jackson on winning the Herts PGA Captains day around Essendon last Tuesday. The guys won on countback and finished with a better ball score of nine under par. Daniel made six birdies and Steve finished like a demon on the last few holes to capture the top prize on the day. Being watched by European ladies star golfer Hannah Burke, Steve finished birdie birdie, whilst Daniel was making a double bogey and par.
The day was in part sponsored by this year's Herts PGA Captain Ian Taylor, who is the Head Professional at Essendon and used to be our assistant at East Herts. Congratulations to Ian on a fantastic day and well done on buying everybody a drink as they came in.
"Winning today, I feel has got me closer to being able to compete a lot better in the Major tournaments. My next goal is, of course, to win a Major and I'm going to do all that I can to prepare well for that."
These comments were made by Japan's Hideki Matsuyama following his victory in last week's WGC-HSBC Champions event.
The four Majors aside, there's nothing quite like winning a World Golf Championships event. Many see it as a sign that the winner is ready to compete at the highest level, and this is certainly the case for Matsuyama.
The 24-year-old fired 29 birdies over the week to finish seven clear of Henrik Stenson and Daniel Berger on 23-under-par. To put this achievement into perspective, only Tiger Woods has managed to win a WGC event by seven shots or more - something he's done on four separate occasions. Not bad company to hold.
Whether it was Matsuyama's ability to consistently hit fairways and greens or his solid short game that impressed you the most, make sure you come and see one of the team to get your game in shape this winter.

Now that we've got last week out of the way let's look forward to this weekend and The Turkish Airlines Open.
Yes - both Rory and Tiger have withdrawn, but, there is a tee box on top of a roof - so that pretty much makes up for it. Watch this video and see Padraig Harrington teeing off from the roof.
