What's In The Bag - Gregg's Clubs
This year I have upgrade a couple of clubs in my bag and I am waiting for the TaylorMade Fitting Day on Thursday, 11 May to try some more. In my bag I currently have:
Driver - TaylorMade 2017 M1. My driver has 9.5* of loft as standard, but I have increased the loft to 10.5* as this help me to launch the ball slightly higher and it also closes the face a little to help promote a draw shape. I have an Aldila HZRDUS stiff shaft in the driver to give me the perfect launch I am looking for.
Fairway - TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2, 3-wood 15*. I love this 3-wood! It is a great club for me in the bag for short, tight par 4's and for second shots on Par fives.
Hybrid - TaylorMade Jet Speed, 3-hybrid 19*.
Irons - TaylorMade Speedblade 4-PW. These are the other clubs I am looking into to whether or not anything else is better as Ive had these for a few years now.
Wedges - Titleist SM6 Vokeys - 50*, 54* & 58*. As some of you will know the short game is the part of the game I love the most so I use these a lot. I replace my wedges every two years.
Putter - TaylorMade Spider Tour Black. The newest edition to my bag and also the number one putter used by the pros at the Masters.
Ball - Titleist Pro V1x.
Bag - PING Series.
Shoes - Skechers Go Golf Elite 2. Now these shoes are unbelievable! I can only describe them as pillows for your feet, if you haven't tried them you need to!
Report On Morocco
Morocco was a very insightful week, I got the opportunity to see close up the standard and the level you need to be at to compete on the ladies and men's European Tours. I witnessed a ball striking exhibition by Tom Lewis on Friday when he shot the course record. He is extremely close to being back to his best, and with a little hard work in the next few weeks I can see him having a great few tournaments in Italy and Portugal.
I also now have huge sympathy for parents who caddy for their children. I have known Hannah since she was six and I sometimes forget that she's not my daughter. It was a fantastic experience witnessing her play last week and she is very close to being one of the best golfers in Europe. She just needs, with the help of her team to take her game to the next level, and I know she will. She was extremely unlucky on the Saturday which started with a ball in a divot after the first shot. She has a great team around her and they have all been challenged to take her to that next level. I think there needs to be an element of business about having a good caddy and when you both know what each over are thinking it can make it a little hard. The bag felt very heavy on the Tuesday, but felt good by the end of the week, I managed to loose half a stone and did around 150,000 steps!
You may have seen that I won my bet with the full time Caddy Chris Edwards, I must say that I was not happy to win the bet at all. I managed to spend some time with Chris and Jamie Rutherford who Chris caddies for. Jamie is a great golfer and a really nice person and I'm sure he will have a good finish this week in Turkey. Jamie is looking for some sponsorship and help on the European Tour this season and there are some great packages for sponsorship available.
