Second And Second Again
On Monday I was joined by Steve Jackson, Steve Sealy and new member at East Herts Chris Campbell in the PGA East Region Brocket Hall Pro-Am. The event was played around the Melbourne Course due to some problems with a few greens on the Palmerston. The format was the standard best two from four and lowest gross score for the Professionals. We all played great and contributed to the team score which finished on -20, Chris managed a par on the first with his feet in the Mimram River and also holed a clutch putt on our last hole to avoid us from making a bogey. Big Norm and Sticky played their normal Gung-Ho style of golf, birdies from the trees, nett hole-in-ones and lots of squawking noises all day long. It's not the normal golf format playing with these boys and for that reason it seems to suit me, I managed five birdies and an eagle to post a -5 (67) which I was extremely pleased with, I made a bogey on my second hole and unfortunately also had a bogey on my last hole which was the par three 6th. The winning Pro score was 66 and the winning team score was -21 so we were second both times.
The next Pro-Am takes place at Verulam GC next Friday with Liam Munt and Gavin and Andy McFayden.
St. George's Day Competition
On Saturday we played the St. George's Day Competition, I played with our Captain Bob Cornish vs. Past Captain Alan Thomas and Vice Captain Micheal Benjamin. Our score was 44 points and we were only beaten by one pair on the day who were David Williams and Paul Leonard so I was second AGAIN! We sold mulligans in the form of Helium balloons and managed to raise just shy of £500 on the day through the balloons and our £5 bets with everyone. Thank you to all the members who played and supported Bob and his Charity (Dreamflight - Click here to learn more about the charity).

Complete Equipment Solution
We want to make buying new equipment from us an enjoyable process, one which leads to you playing better golf in the long run. This is why we've teamed up with TaylorMade, PING and Titleist to offer you the Complete Equipment Solution. How does a FREE custom fitting and FREE lesson sound?
It's so important for golfers of all abilities - particularly amateurs, who have far more to gain - to get custom fitted, as opposed to leaving it to chance, like you'd be doing if you bought standard spec clubs straight off the shelf. You really have nothing to lose. We will help you to get the most out of any new equipment through a thorough custom fitting process before you buy, followed by a lesson to see you on your way.
