Ladies Scratch Team Successes
Two pairs of ladies entered the HCLGA County Foursomes event on Monday at Brookmans Park Golf Club. Lois Dewhurst and Gill Winter came in with a fantastic nett 73.5 (par was 73) to secure third place. The winners and second place had a nett 73, so they narrowly missed the top place. Our other pair of Sally Close and Elaine Jewitt came a very creditable 17th (out of 48 pairs) with a nett 77 on a difficult day for scoring with very windy conditions. Very well done to both pairs.
The Ladies Scratch A team have begun their 2017 season with a good win at Hadley Wood, overcoming their opposition 3-2. The team consisted of Mawgan Vater, Gill Winter, Jackie Reeve, Sally Close and Jan Cullinan. The return match is at home on Sunday, 11 June, so the ladies are hoping to use home advantage to do the double on them. The team is working on their short game with lessons from Gregg so they can cut out those wasted shots round the green.
Well You Made That Clear…
Each month we run a new poll on our website which allows you to have your say on the latest golfing topics. As you can see in the image here, last month's poll saw an overwhelming majority of you (74%) vote against the use of video evidence in golf. Recently the R&A issued a new Decision on the Rules of Golf to limit the use of video evidence in the game after Lexi Thompson was penalised four strokes in a ladies major after a TV viewer contacted the LPGA to inform them there had been an infringement the previous day. This move by the R&A has been welcomed with open arms by many people, including tour players and pundits both sides of the pond.
For June we are asking you to vote on one of golf's longest standing question: what is the best men's golf major? The early running indicates it's between the Masters and The Open, but click on the link below to cast your vote.
Take June's poll now.
