Rule of the Week by Ash ‘Double-hit’
There is no longer a penalty for hitting a ball multiple times on the same swing. The old rules stated that if a player swung and hit the ball more than once (most common on chips and pitches), the player had to count the stroke and take a penalty stroke. Under the new rules, if a player hits the ball more than once, the player just counts the intended shot and plays the ball from where it came to rest. If you’re prone to a double hitting it, book a lesson with one of us, we can save you many strokes.

Course Etiquette
Being aware of other players on the course is important: your group needs to keep up with the group in front, not just in front of the players behind. A fourball group is accepted to take more time so if they are in front of a three of two who are playing faster it is etiquette to call them through. This call through procedure should be adopted at any time, to not only speed up play but also to take pressure off of your own game. There is nothing worse than feeling intimidated by looking back at the following group knowing they are playing faster than you and you are holding them up. If one of your competitors loses a ball the best policy is to inform your playing partners that you would like to call the group behind through to give more time to look and stand aside and use the time to collect your thoughts for the next shot. It is surprising sometimes how much time can be saved by offering to repair a divot or rake a bunker if a playing companion is struggling. |

A driver is a powerful beast, sometimes too powerful if a hole has a hazard within range. In this scenario, you have a plethero of options to choose from, but there is one that is often overlooked. |
Picture the scene You're stood on a par-4 tee box and there’s a water hazard 240 yards away. What do you do? Many of you will reach for your longest iron on auto-pilot, however a custom-fitted fairway wood might just be the perfect solution; getting you further down the hole and closer to the green. | |
|
Why is this often overlooked? A lot of golfers don't have confidence in hitting their fairway wood because, quite simply, they don't use it enough. But with technology to help you hit them better - such as a Tungsten weight in PING's G410 fairway wood that increases forgiveness - it's time you gave them another go. |
Custom fitting is key We're delighted to see so many of you come to us for a custom fit when you're after a new driver or set of irons, but why does it stop there? A custom fitting is so important in ensuring you get the most from any new purchase, whether that's a driver, fairway wood or putter. |
