Results from Ashridge Herts PGA event

On a brisk but sunny morning in November the Herts Alliance was hosted by Ashridge Golf Club, 88 competitors made their way around the one of the best golf clubs in Hertfordshire. As always in the Herts PGA events the course and food was excellent and the quality of golfers from courses around Hertfordshire was very high.

The Professional individual was won by our very own James Watts who managed 9 Birdies and an eagle during his round of 65 James team from Kingsway ended up coming third on count back with a team total of 90 points which means James contributed 11 under to the team and the other 3 manged only 7 under between them.

We found out afterwards that James would have lost 3&2 against his Dad, John Watts whose best score around Ashridge was -10 when won the Roseberry Cup in 1947.

The winning team and collecting the Porters Park bowl with names like Harry Vardon, Ted Ray, Abe Mitchell, Dai Rees, Eddie Whitcombe, David Lewis, Alex Haye and more recently local professionals like Philip Golding, Andy Clapp and Ashly Smith were The team Lead by East Herts Head Professional Daniel Field who shot -2 70 , Liam Munt, Gavin Mcfayden and making a rare appearance Steve Jackson.

Gavin managed to get of his phone and made a few birdies and net a net eagle but the star of the show was Liam Munt who played beautifully and has been for a while now, thanks to the great work of our resident teaching professional Gregg Smith.

2020 Pro-Am's

Next year is the 100th year of the Herts PGA and to celebrate that we are returning to all the original golf courses including Berkhamsted, Old Fold, Letchworth, South Herts, West Herts, East Herts, and Porters Park.

The last Herts Alliance of this year is on Friday 6th December at Letchworth Golf Club, cost is around £70 person and includes roll & coffee, 18 holes prizes and Christmas dinner. We have two teams available if you want to play with Ashley or Mitch then let us know.
