Speed of Play
We've seen a very interesting article on Speed of Play from the BBC Sport website this week, which discusses things that we can do to help reduce the time it takes to play a round. Click here to read the full article and click here to give us your opinions on what we can all do to help speed up play.
Congratulations to Team GB...
Congratulations to Andy Murray and team GB on an amazing Davis Cup victory. He led the GB team to an amazing victory and I especially liked his comments directed at the LTA this morning.
"Too many coaching organisations in sport collect all this money from their members and then supposedly grow and improve their sport, but all I see is high profile footballers getting paid more and more middle management positions turning up. Sport is full of pen pushers and fat cats and I'm not sure what the answers is but I know there is a wealth of experience of ex-players and coaches out there who can teach people how to play a sport rather than teach a technique or a pre-shot routine."
With all these little blogs I welcome a response or an opinion or even the answer, so please click here to get in touch.
Winter Order of Merit Round One
The First of our Pro Shop Winter Order of Merits (WOOM) kicked off last Saturday, 28 November with past Captain Phil Swan pipping Kevin Storey for the top spot. Both Phil and Kevin finished on 37 points (Kevin losing out on countback) putting them on the Top of the Order of Merit standings after the first event. We had a great field of 25 players which is fantastic for the first event and we really hope that we can keep the momentum going. The next WOOM event will be this Sunday, 6 December.
Another Solid Performance from Swanny
On Monday at Ashridge, East Herts were represented by three teams in the Herts Alliance. The weather was a little cold, windy and wet, but the old boy team consisting of Phil Swan, Gavin Edwards and Julian Dell managed a victory and were led home by Old Hertfordian, past member and ex-European tour player Mark Litton. They managed 86 points to claim the Porters Park Bowl and beat 23 other teams.
If you would like to play in any future Herts Alliances then please let myself or Gregg know. The 2016 schedule will be released soon and we always enjoy taking members away to other courses in Hertfordshire.
Bill Harris
As some of you may be aware Bill Harris had a bad fall at home a few weeks ago and is currently recovering at Harlow hospital. I went to see Bill today and he was in good spirits, he has lost some feeling in his right arm but it has improved a huge amount already in a short space of time. He was very encouraged by the fact that his Physiotherapists were very pleasant young ladies. Bill has set himself the goal of playing again at East Herts so please if you have missed him and want to get in contact then please give me a shout as I have a contact number for him whilst he is recovering.
